There are a couple of ways you can create your own distribution lists. You can build your own list in Fuseworks or upload a spreadsheet with your own contacts.

Building your own list lets you customise it to specifically suit your requirements and by using Fuseworks profiles the contact details will be automatically kept up to date for you. Your distribution lists can only be seen by you and others in your organisation.

How to build a distribution list using Fuseworks profiles

Step 1 – Click ‘Distribution lists’ in the left hand navigation.


Step 2 – Click ‘Create new list’ from the ‘Actions’ box on the right.


Step 3 – Enter a name for your new list in the overlay and click ‘Save’.


Step 4 – Have a look at the ‘Fuseworks lists’ to see if there’s an existing list you can use as a starting point. For example, you want to create a distribution list for Hamilton, so by looking at the Fuseworks ‘Waikato media’ list you will find a lot of the contacts you’ll want in your Hamilton list. Click on the list name to open the Fuseworks list and see the contacts.


Step 5 – Scroll down the list and tick the checkbox to select the profiles you want to include in your list.


Step 6 – Click ‘Copy’ at the bottom of the screen and click on the name of the list you want to put the selected profiles in.


Step 7 – The next step is to run a profile search to look up any other contacts you want to include. Enter your keyword into the search box and click the blue button to run the search.


Step 8 – Click ‘Profiles’ to change the type of results from the ‘News’ default to only see the Profile results.

Step 9 – Scroll down the search results and tick the checkbox to select the profiles you want to include in your list. If there are lots of results you may need to use some of the filters to refine your search. Here’s some more indepth info on running a profile search.

Step 10 – Click ‘Add to list’ at the bottom of the screen and click on the name of the list you want to copy the selected profiles to e.g. Hamilton media.

You can check out the distribution list you’ve created by clicking ‘Distribution lists’ in the left hand navigation and clicking the second tab which will be called [Name of your organisation] lists.


  • You can star distribution lists you use frequently and they’ll be automatically added for each release (you can remove lists by clicking the ‘X’ next to them). To star a distribution list, click on ‘Distribution lists’ in the left hand navigation, click into the list and click the white star – it will turn green and move to the top of the lists.
